Turtle Works Inc. International Race Of Champions DISCLAIMER If you are unable to run your NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition Game using the Windows designed NR1999.exe's then do NOT download this patch. Due to files needing to be added to your layout.dat the DOS designed .exe's will not accept the altered layout.dat. This patch does make back up's of you .dat files incase any problems do arise. TWI nor Simcyberworld will be held accountable for the misuse of this patch. IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE: You will notice during the installation that your machine may lock up for about a minute during the "patch exes......" mode. This is perfectly normal and has not locked up your machine do NOT attempt to abort the installation. Please be patient while its editing the .exe's NOTE: You can run your Winston Cup cars and schedules with this, however ONLY the IROC tracks have been suited for this patch. (logos, trackshots,.lp files, track.txt) If this becomes somewhat of a success we intend on doing updates such as new car colors, driver updates, and track updates. **Warning** Known minor bugs *** If you are a dos user for n99 this will not work. The dos n99 exe's don't like *** lines added to the layout.pck which is a must for this patch. This program backed *** up your layout.dat in case you are one of the unfortunate few who cannot run n99 *** in Windows. You will also notice while viewing the rear bumper cam that you will see a polygon. I'm not too sure how this originated. It tends to diminish as the cam runs and is only a minor bug. This seems to be isolated to only the rear bumber cam. When choosing a non IROC track you will notice your track shot is missing. This is only related to the IROC game itself. Once you go run your regular NASCAR99.exe you will find all is normal. I did this so I wouldn't overwrite your original trackshot since the IROC game calls for a larger format. Questions you might have about your TWIROC edition: 1. Wheres the garage? How come I can't setup my car? A. Simple. The IROC cars are already setup for the drivers. It prevents one driver from getting a setup advantage on the other. However, what setups you are given are very stable, very fast, race winning machines. They were also used to make the AI equal to the player. The competion is on a level field now. 2. What did you do with the Paint Shop? What if I want to put my name on my car? A. I removed paintshop basically cause of some side effects that had been occuring. IROC doesn't allow a driver to paint their own vehicle anyway so what we had given to you were a couple of backup cars that IROC usually has on hand. You will find a black number 10 Firebird as well as a blue number 10 and a red back up car. B. If you're just dying to see your name on the car just rename the .irc extension to .car and put the car in your cars folder and run your original nr1999.exe. 3. If IROC doesn't allow spotters, then how come I can still turn mine on? A. The reason I left the spotter option in is because I foresee IROC giving into the other drivers complaints about not having any in the not so far off future. It is encouraged tho to turn him off to get the true IROC experience. 4. Are you guys gonna make this for NASCAR3 as well? A. We are in the process of it but we have run into a snag with the damage model. What I can tell you is if you are impressed with the N99 TWIROC then the N3 TWIROC will have you sitting in a puddle of drool. hehehe 5. Whats with those extra files in my track folder? A. Those are files that were designed for the IROC game so they wouldn't interupt your current Nascar99. Some .lp files run better with large packs while others require a small group of cars. There are also some other needed files so it is wise to not remove them. ****It's suggested NOT to take the IROC .lp files and make them stockcar .lp files. You are likely to have check up problems as well as other annoying bugs.***** 6. You DO know IROC doesn't have qualifying so why do we still have this feature? A. I left this feature in mainly because I doubt most of you won't want to start dead last every race. It also helps shuffle the drivers around so the same guy isn't always winning. 7. Why are all the races set for a 40 lap race when IROC runs 50 at a couple of them? A. Simple. Fuel mileage. The game doesn't run the distance on fuel like it should. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this patch a reality. Bugs- Of TWI for realizing what a real IROC patch should be. Talladega AI- Edited version of CCG Plate2.exe. BB&B- Great group of guys. Taught TWI new tricks in track editing. Denny Hoffman- Denny Hoffman has been this TWIROC's saving grace. TWI had a miscommunication with the wishs of Denny as it pertained to his car.3do in which the IROC Pontiac Firebird was based. Denny's graciousness allowed TWI to included our Firebird without having to result in a total restructure of 2 brand new car.3do's. ****WARNING**** ****Do NOT attempt any such editing and or posting to Denny's Taurus .3do**** We hope you have enjoyed an accurate IROC experiance from Turtle Works Inc. I'd like to personally thank everyone who has supported TWI in the past. If the TWIROC is a success then what we might do is go ahead and paint newer cars with new colors as well as other needed updates as time calls for.
