Q: How can I create my own decal sheet

A: First, download a .dat pack/unpack program. WINDAT will work just fine. Then unpack the layout.dat in your nascar3/layout directory. Then, open up decal.pcx with a paint program, modify it but do not change the boundaries and do not use the brown background color. For best results, load the n3 car pallate onto an image prior to putting it on the decal sheet. Any transparent color must be the same as the brown background color

Q: Can I use ICR2/N1/N2/N99 tracks with N3?

A: Yes. For N2/N99, copy and paste the track into your nascar3/tracks directory. Open up the track.txt file, where track = the tracks' name, from the track directory. (e.x. If the track was Pocono, open Pocono.txt from tracks/pocono directory) and add SUN 270 75 to the bottom of the file. SUN and 270 are seperated by one space. If it is a night track, add NIGHT 1 for a night time cockpit. Then add the Track to your calendar. If it is an ICR2 or N1 track, then download the appropriate converter and follow the above steps. You can find the N1 converter at www.simracing.com/simproject/ and the ICR2 converter from www.theuspits.com

Q: How do I add a track to the calendar?

A: Open up one of the calendar files, such as all.cal or nascar99.cal, from your main nascar3 directory, using notepad or any text editing software. At the bottom, create an empty line of text between the last line with the XXXXXX and the line preceding it. Then, I suggest you copy the last calendar line, such as, the last line excluding the line with the XXXXXXX, and pasting it into the empty line of text. Then, where the track name is in all caps, change that to the name of the track, such as change ATLANTA to POCONO.

Here is my example:

81 3 7 1 1 NATLANTA NAPA_500 NAPA_500 325 event2.tga biglogo2.tga
82 12 99 0 0 XXXXXXXX

my original final two calendar lines

81 3 7 1 1 NATLANTA NAPA_500 NAPA_500 325 event2.tga biglogo2.tga

82 12 99 0 0 XXXXXXXX

After I added the empty space

81 3 7 1 1 NATLANTA NAPA_500 NAPA_500 325 event2.tga biglogo2.tga
82 3 7 1 1 NATLANTA NAPA_500 NAPA_500 325 event2.tga biglogo2.tga

82 12 99 0 0 XXXXXXXX
After I duplicated the last calendar line

81 3 7 1 1 NATLANTA NAPA_500 NAPA_500 325 event2.tga biglogo2.tga
81 3 7 1 1 POCONO Pocono_500 Pocono_500 200 event2.tga biglogo2.tga
81 12 99 0 0 XXXXXXXX

Finally, after I renamed the track attributes

Calendar File Structure

Example
81 3 7 1 1 NATLANTA NAPA_500 NAPA_AUTO_500 325 event2.tga biglogo2.tga

81 = Which track it is on the list, 1 being 1st, 2 being 2nd, appears to be irrelevent in Nascar 3
3 = Month of event
7 = Date of Event
1 = How many events have been run at the track in the same season prior to this event
1 = whether it is a day or night track, 0=day, 1=night

The above attirubtes to the calendar do not affect the game if they are out of sequence or incorrect(having the 31st event after the 32nd), if they are there, in the correct order, and have a space between each of them, it will work. Make sure you leave two spaces between the month of event and the track list number, incase there is a two-digit month

NATLANTA = Name of track, by the folder name
NAPA_AUTO_500 = Long name of event
NAPA_500 = Short Name of event
325 = number of laps in event at 100%
event2.tga = small event picture
biglogo2.tga = large event picture
